Vacancy Details
UPSSSC has notified a total of 722 posts of Excise Constable under Advertisement No. 08-Exam/2026. The vacancies cover both General Recruitment and Special Recruitment drives. Reservation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes, and Economically Weaker Section categories is applied as per the Government of Uttar Pradesh norms. Candidates should refer to the official notification PDF available at upsssc.gov.in for the exact category-wise breakup.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Applicants must have passed the Intermediate (Class 12th) examination from a recognised board. In addition — and this is the critical pre-condition — they must hold a valid UPSSSC PET-2025 scorecard. Candidates who did not appear in PET-2025, or who scored zero or negative (absolute or normalised), are not eligible to apply, regardless of their academic qualifications.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 40 years, reckoned as on 1 July 2026. Age relaxation is available for reserved-category candidates as per prevailing UPSSSC and UP Government rules. SC/ST/OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh domicile will get the standard relaxation as notified; ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities should check the notification for category-specific limits.
Application Fee
The application fee is a nominal ₹25 for all categories — there is no distinction between General, OBC, SC, or ST applicants in this regard. Payment must be made through online modes only (net banking, debit/credit card, UPI, etc.) during the application process itself.
Selection Process
UPSSSC follows a multi-stage selection process for this recruitment. Understanding it fully can help candidates plan their preparation from day one.
- Stage 1 – PET-2025 Shortlisting: Candidates are first shortlisted based on their normalised PET-2025 score. UPSSSC will call up to 15 times the number of vacancies in each category for the Main Examination. Those with zero or negative scores (absolute or normalised) in PET-2025 will be excluded at this stage itself.
- Stage 2 – Written Main Examination: Shortlisted candidates appear in the Main Examination. The question paper covers subjects as per the prescribed syllabus for Excise Constable; the exact pattern, marks distribution, and negative marking details are available in the official notification.
- Stage 3 – Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Candidates who qualify the Main Examination are called for physical measurements — height, chest (for male candidates), and weight checks as prescribed in the notification.
- Stage 4 – Physical Fitness Test (PFT): A physical endurance test is conducted to assess overall fitness. Details of the PFT events and qualifying standards are outlined in the official notification PDF.
- Stage 5 – Document Verification: The final stage involves verification of original educational certificates, caste certificates, domicile proof, and all other supporting documents.
There is no interview round in this recruitment. Final merit is drawn on the basis of performance in the Main Examination, subject to qualifying the physical stages.

Key Points to Remember
A few things are worth highlighting before you apply:
- A valid PET-2025 scorecard is mandatory. Without it, your application will be rejected outright.
- The application fee is the same for every category — just ₹25 paid online.
- Shortlisting for the Main Exam is strictly based on PET normalised scores, so a higher PET score directly improves your chances of being called.
- Both General and Special Recruitment vacancies are covered under this single notification.
- The application window closes on 24 June 2026. Last-minute server load is common — apply well before the deadline.
Pro Tip: Read the official notification PDF in full before applying. Physical standard requirements (height, chest, weight) and the detailed PFT norms are clearly listed there. Confirm you meet all physical parameters before investing time in preparation — non-qualification at the PMT/PFT stage means the written exam score counts for nothing.
