The Rayat Shikshan Sanstha founded by Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil has a truly long tradition of over hundred years. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil proliferated education in the remote and rural zones of Maharashtra with four principles of freedom, equality, dignity, and self help. He was inspired by the grand thoughts and works of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj. He opened several primary schools, secondary schools and higher education institutes with the reformers of his times who were keen on taking education to the doorsteps of the socially disadvantaged social groups, farmers, landless labourers and other hard working people in the rural areas. One such institute is the Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya at Karjat, which is known as the newest Pandhari of Maharashtra.
